The Boston Red Sox were active on Monday afternoon, as they tried to get down to the 25 man roster in preparation for Opening Day on Thursday, March 29th. They placed pitchers Steven Wright, Drew Pomeranz and Eduardo Rodriguez all on the 10 day disabled list.

Additionally the Red Sox optioned pitcher Brandon Workman to Triple-A Pawtucket and reassigned pitcher Justin Haley to the minor league camp. That now leaves the Red Sox with 29 active players in the big league camp.

Yesterday the Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 6-1. Mookie Betts led off the game with a home run and added another home run, this time a two run homer in the 4th inning. Andrew Benintendi blasted a home run and JD Martinez went 3-5 with a RBI

David Price was sharp on the mound, allowing just 1 hit, a leadoff homer, in 3.0 innings and retired the next 8 batters in a row.

The Red Sox finished their Grapefruit League with the best record, with a record of 20-9-1. It's the first time the Red Sox have finished with the best record since 1999 when they went 18-10 and their first time they have won 20 plus games since they went 20-8 in 1998.
