MDI Girls 50 Hermon 33 [Box Score]

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team defeated Hermon 50-33 in Hermon on Tuesday, January 26th.

MDI and Hermon were tied at 8-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Kelsey Shaw, who was selected the Big East Girl's Co-Player of the Week today, scored 6 points for the Trojans and Keely McConomy had 2 points for MDI. For Hermon, Lauren Plissey, Alex Allain, Maddie Pullen and Emi Higgins each had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Hermon 10-7 to take a 18-15 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Shaw had 6 points and Maya Watras and Mariah Hamor each had 2  points. For Hermon Allain had a 3-pointer, Plissey had 2 points and Bryanne Crouse had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI played inspired defense, limiting Hermon to just 4 points while scoring 19 points themselves. Shaw had 8 points, Maddy Candage had 6 points, McConomy had 4 points and Abbe Miller had 1 point. For Hermon, Higgins had all 4 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Shaw and McConomy each had 4 points for MDI while Watras had 3 points and Candage had 2 points. For Hermon, Caitlyn Tracy had 7 points, Allain had 5 points including another 3-pointer and Chloe Raymond had 2 points.

MDI was led by Kelsey Shaw with 24 points while Keely McConomy had 10 points and Maddy Candage had 8 points. MDI was 6-8 from the free throw line. Shaw now has 977 career points and is 23 points away from 1000 career points.

Hermon was led by Alex Allain with 10 points, Caitlyn Tracy had 7 points and Emi Higgins had 6 points. Hermon was 5-8 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 15-1 and have 2 games remaining, home against Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, January 30th at 3:30 and then at Ellsworth on Wednesday, February 3rd at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Hermon is now 9-7 and have 2 games remaining, at Houlton on Saturday, January 30th and at the Cross Insurance Center against John Bapst on Thursday, February 4th.
