MDI Girls 47 Presque Isle 41

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team was looking forward to Friday, January 22nd, ever since December 31st when they were embarrassed up in Presque Isle, losing to the Wildcats 80-57. The Trojans got their revenge, defeating Presque Isle 47-41 in front of a large crowd at Bernard Parady Gymnasium.

The Trojans jumped out to a 11-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Mariah Hamor had 5 points, including a 3-pointer, Keely McConomy had 3 points and Athena Laurendau had 2 points. For Presque Isle Emily Wheaton had 6 points and Olivia Hudson had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter, Presque Isle outscored MDI 17-11 to take a 25-22 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Hudson had 6 points, connecting on 2 3-pointers. Skyler Vogel had 4 points, Emily Lagerstrom had a 3-pointer for 3 points and Regan Nelson and Wheaton had 2 points for the Wildcats. For MDI Kelsey Shaw had 4 points, Abbe Miller had a 3-pointer for 3 points and Hamor and McConomy had 2 points each.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI outscored Presque Isle 12-5 to take a 34-30 lead. Shaw had 8 points, and Hamor and McConomy each had 2 points for the Trojans. For Presque Isle Wheaton had a 3-pointer and Nelson had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Keely McConomy had 10 points, including 2 clutch free throws. Maya Watras, and Shaw each had 2 points and Miller had 1 point. For Presque Isle Wheaton had 4 points including a 3-pointer, and Lagerstrom and Taylor Williams each hit 3-pointers.

MDI was led by Keely McConomy with a career high 16 points. Kelsey Shaw had 14 points and Mariah Hamor had 9 points. The Trojans were 7-10 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Emily Wheaton with 16 points while Olivia Hudson had 8 points. The Wildcats were 4-6 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 13-1 and plays host to Caribou on Saturday, January 23rd at 1 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Presque Isle is now 10-2 and will play at Ellsworth on Saturday, January 23rd at 1 PM.
