EHS Girls Nipped In 2OT 50-46
The Ellsworth Eagles Girl's Basketball Team was nipped in double overtime on Saturday, January 23rd, falling to the Presque Isle Wildcats 50-46 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.
The Presque Isle Girl's took a 14-12 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, and at the end of the 1st Half, Ellsworth had take the lead 23-22. Presque Isle retook the lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter, 32-31. The two teams were knotted at 43-43 at the end of regulation. At the end of the 1st overtime, the two teams were still tied, at 46-46. Presque Isle scored 4 points in double overtime, to win 50-46.
Ellsworth was led by Sammy Mason who had a season high and game high19 points. Katelynn Bagley had 8 points as did Kate Whitney. Mason, Madison Card and Whitney each had 3-pointers. Ellsworth was 3-6 from the free throw line.
Presque Isle was led by Emily Wheaton with 16 points while Olivia Hudson and mily Lagerstram each had 9 points. Hudson had 3 3-pointers, and Taylor Williams and Lagerstram each had 1 3-pointer. Presque Isle was 11-19 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth is now 9-5 and plays at George Steven's Academy on Tuesday, January 26th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
Presque Isle is 11-2 and plays host to Fort Kent on Monday, January 25th at 5:30 PM.
