A Sorrento man has been killed in what is believed to be a logging accident at a woodlot in Ellsworth.

The body of the 53-year-old man, who was not named, was discovered by police after a woman from Sorrento reported her husband missing early Friday morning. The woman reportedly became concerned when her husband did not return home.

Police responded to the area where the man was last known to be working and found the body deep in the woodlot, according to a news release from the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Ellsworth police are investigating, but the death is not considered suspicious. It is believed there was a logging accident which resulted in fatal injuries, according to the news release.
