Finally some good news for travelers driving through Ellsworth! Ellsworth's Bridge Hill will reopen to normal traffic by 5 a.m. on Friday, August 28th!

Bridge Hill has been closed since August 13th since a water main break caused significant damage beneath the roadway, requiring damaged pavement to be removed, the gravel base to be repaired and compacted, and the road to be repaved before it could safely reopen.

The City of Ellsworth extends their thanks to the motorists for their patience who were forced to detour around the area for the last 2 weeks, and to the City Crews, Maine DOT and contractors for working hard to reopen the roadway!
