The Boston Red Sox snapped their 4-game losing streak, beating the Texas Rangers on Monday night, 5-4 in 10 innings.
Rob Refsnyder, 2-5 on the night, hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning to win the game for the Red Sox.
Enmanuel Valdez, pinch-hitting in the bottom of the 10th inning hit a double, to tie the score at 4-4.
Nick Sogard was 2-4, recording his 3rd multi-hit game in his 9-game major league career.
Mickey Gaspar, making his major league debut walking in the 10th inning, with the winning run on 3rd base.
Brayan Bellow started for the Red Sox and went 6.0 innings, allowing 4 hits and a run, striking out 5 and walking 3.
Prior to the game the Red Sox suspended Jarren Duran for 2 games for using homophobic language to a fan the other night. It was the 1st game that Duran had missed all season. Duran’s salary from the two-game suspension will be donated to PFLAG (Federation of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), the United States’ largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people and those who love them.
They also placed James Paxton on the 15-day injured list with a right calf strain.
