The Boston Red Sox won their 5th straight game, shutting out the Chicago White Sox 5-0 in Chicago on Wednesday, July 8th. The Red Sox have won 10 of their last 12 games and and 13 of their last 18 games.

Jake Bennett improved to 4-3 pitching 7.0 innings. He allowed 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking 1, reducing his ERA to 2.64. Greg Weissert pitched the 8th inning and Jovi Moran pitched the 9th inning, striking out 2.

Tsung-Che Cheng, playing shortstop was 2-3 driving in 2 runs.

Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-5 with a double, his 21st of the season, driving in a run. Wilyer Abreu hit his 19th double of the season. Caleb Durbin was 2-3 with his 18th double of the season.

Willson Contreras had to leave the game, after fouling a ball off of his left foot in the 3rd inning.

Anthony Siegler had to leave the game after scoring after colliding with the catcher when he scored on a wild pitch.

The Red Sox and White Sox will play the final game of the 3-game series on Thursday afternoon. Patrick Sandoval will make his 1st start for the Red Sox after his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The pregame starts at 1:10 with the 1st pitch at 2:10 on WDEA AM 1370
