The Trenton Acadians Senior Legion Baseball Team beat the Downeast Captains 9-4 on Thursday, July 9th at Ellsworth High School.

After the game was tied at 2-2 at the end of the 1st inning, the Acadians scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to put the game away.

Ryan Winchester started on the mound for the Acadians. He pitched 6.1 innings allowing 11 hits and 4 runs He struck out 4 and didn't walk a batter. Jackson Barry recorded the final 2 outs via strikeout, walking a batter.

Winchester helped himself at the plate going 2-2 with a double and triple, driving in a run.

Eli MacDonnell and Jackson Barry each had a double, with MacDonnell driving in a run. Wyl Renwick had a single and drove in 2 runs. Evan Haskell, Dawson Curtis each had a single and drove in a run. Luke Horne and Jackson Barry each had a single.

The Acadians stole 7 bases. Curtis had 2 stolen bases and Haskell, Hollis Grindal, Barry, Horne and Winchester each swiped a base.

Jayden Mahar started on the mound for the Captains. He pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 3 hits and 6 runs, 2 of which were earned. He struck out 4 and walked 5. Miles Worcester pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, all earned, walking 1.

Mahar, Worcester and Brody Robinson each had a pair of singles. Colby Moholland, William Ferguson, Burren Absalom, Adin Alley and Brice Nichols each had a single. Robinson, Ferguson and Alley each drove in a run.

The Acadians are 4-0 this week, and are 12-2 on the season. They will play host to the GSM Senior Riders at Hampden Academy on Saturday, July 11th at 5 p.m.

The Captains are 4-9 overall and are 1-4 this week. They will play at Mansfield Stadium on Friday night, July 10th against the Dunkin Comrades at 7 p.m.
