Red Sox Shutout Mets 4-0 for 8th Straight Win [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox shutout the New York Mets 4-0 on Saturday afternoon, July 11th for their 8th straight win to move within a half game of a wild card playoff spot.

Andruw Monasterio hit a 2-run homer in the 4th inning, and had a triple. His homer was his 5th of the season.

Masataka Yoshida hit a 2-run homer in the 8th inning, his 3rd of the season.

Caleb Durbin had a pair of singles and Ceddanne Rafaela had a double, his 22nd of the season.

Ed Rivera called up to start the game went 3.2 innings and allowed just 1 hit, striking out 3 and walking 2.  Greg Weissert pitched an inning striking out 2. Jovi Moran picked up the win pitching 1.2 innings and is now 2-2. Justin Slaten retired 2 batters, allowing a hit, walking 1 and striking out 2. Drew Coulombe pitched the final 2 innings, walking 3.

Boston is now 45-48. They will play the Mets on Sunday afternoon, with the pregame starting at 12:40 on WDEA AM 1370. The Red Sox will then be off until Friday July 17th for the All-Star break, when they will host Tampa Bay in a doubleheader.
