The Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 5-3 on Tuesday as Rafael Devers went 3-5 and Garrett Whitlock came out of the bullpen throwing 4 innings of no-hit relief to pick up his 1st win of the season.

Devers was 3-5 driving in 2 runs including the game winner in the 8th inning to break a 3-3 tie

Kike Hernandez who was hitless on the season, went 2-4 with a pair of doubles, driving in a run

JD Martinez was 1-3 with a run-scoring double

Rich Hill making his 1st start went 4.1 innings. He allowed 5 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 1.

Hirakazu Sawamura got the final 2 outs in the 5th inning and then it was the Garrett Whitlock Show! Whitlock went 4 scoreless, hitless innings. He struck out 2 and walked just 1.

Both Boston and Detroit are 2-3 on the season. The Red Sox and Tigers will play the final game of the 3-game series on Wednesday afternoon, with the pregame starting on AM 1370 WDEA at 12:10 and 1st pitch at 1:10 p.m. Both teams will send their aces with Nathan Eovaldi scheduled to start for Boston against his former teammate Eduardo Rodriguez who signed with Detroit over the winter as a free agent.
