Politics in Ellsworth has been contentious this past year, especially when it has come to the City Council. Now you have the opportunity to step up and serve the citizens of Ellsworth, as nominating petitions are available for the City Council, School Board and Library Trustees.

Nominating petitions are available from the City Clerk's Office. To qualify to have your name on the ballot, you must be an Ellsworth citizen and return your nominating petitions signed by a minimum of 50 registered Ellsworth voters. It's always a good idea to have more than the minimum in case anyone is deemed to be not eligible to have signed the petition. Petitions need to be returned no later than Friday, September 4th at 12:30. (Note City Hall is normally closed on Fridays, but the Clerk's Office will be open solely for accepting ballots).

There are 2 City Council seats open, for 3-year terms. Council Chair Patrick Lyons and Councilor Nancy Smith's terms are expiring. Both are eligible to run in the November election.

There are 2 School Board seats open for a 3-year term. School Board Members Christopher Walters and Kelly McKenney terms are expiring in November. Both are eligible to run in the November election.

The Ellsworth Library Board of Trustees is expanding from 5 to 7 members. There are 2 3-year seats available and 2 2-year seats available in the November election. Trustees Kathleen Cravens and Rain Perez terms expire in November. Both are eligible to run in November.

The November election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd. Early voting in-person is available October 5-29. Absentee ballots by mail may be requested HERE. You can check to make sure you are registered to vote HERE
