WDEA's Chris Popper sat down with Gail LaRosa Thompson to learn about two great events that The Grand in Ellsworth is involved with this week! On Friday, July 31st it's Lobster Rolls on the River! The Flash in the Pan Steel Band will be playing on the Ellsworth Waterfront as part of the free Waterfront Concert Series at 6 PM, and The Grand will be selling lobster rolls. A lobster roll, chips, cole slaw and drink is $20.00 and desserts will be sold seperately.

On Saturday, August 1st at 4 PM, the Glenn Miller Orchestra performs at The Grand! The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. The Orchestra is a unique act in show business as the last of the great “road” bands, on tour since 1956 doing an average of five shows a week, 48 weeks out of the year, performing Glenn Miller’s big hits across North America and the globe. The Glenn Miller Orchestra performs all of Glenn’s big hits like "In The Mood", "I’ve Got A Gal in Kalamazoo", "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Pennsylvania 6-5000", and many more. Because of the strong connection to the armed forces (Glenn went MIA in World War II in December 1944), the current Orchestra recognizes all the veterans in attendance at each show and tributes a song to all those present.
