Boston Beats Pittsburgh 4-2 – Red Sox Suffer Another Injury
The Boston Red Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 on Saturday afternoon, but suffered another injury as Triston Casas left the game with a rib injury.
Kutter Crawford picked up his 1st win of the season, and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing 7 hits and 1 run. He struck out 6 and walked 3. After 5 starts he has gone 27.1 innings and has an ERA of just 0.66.
Kenley Jansen pitched the 9th inning. He struck out the side and earned his 5th save of the season. It was Jansen's 425th save in 15 seasons, passing John Franco for the 5th-most in major league history.
Masataka Yoshida hit his 2nd home run of the season, in the 6th inning, a 2-run shot to give the Red Sox some much needed insurance runs. Yoshida ended the game 3-4.
Jarren Duran led off the game, just missing a home run and ended up with a triple.
Casas came out after batting complaining of left rib discomfort. He was set to have imaging work after the game.
Rafael Devers missed another game with left knee soreness. The Red Sox are hopeful Devers and Tyler O'Neill will be ready to play on Tuesday at Cleveland against the Guardians.
