In a game that took just 1 hour and 49 minutes Tanner Houck threw his 1st career complete game shutout, allowing just 3 hits and the Red Sox snapped their 2-game losing streak beating the Cleveland Guardians 2-0 Wednesday night!

Houck struck out 9 and didn't walk a batter. He became the 1st Red Sox starter to throw a 9-inning complete game shutout since Michael Wacha did it on June 6, 2022, and became the 1st Red Sox starter to throw a 9-inning complete game shutout in under 100 pitches since Clay Buchholz did it on August 31, 2014! Houck needed just 94 pitches Wednesday night!

Houck, now 3-1 lowered his ERA to 1.35 and Red Sox starter's ERA is 1.85 through 19 games.

Connor Wong hit a solo home run in the 4th inning. He finished the night 2-3.

Jarren Duran doubled in the 3rd inning and singled in the 9th, finishing 2-4.

Pablo Reyes was 1-3, scoring Boston's 1st run in the 3rd inning on a balk by Ben Lively.

It wasn't all great news for the Red Sox, as they placed pitcher Garrett Whitlock on the 15-day Disabled List with a left oblique strain. They recalled Joe Jacques from Triple A Worcester to take his place on the roster.

Boston and Cleveland will play the final game of the 4-game series Thursday afternoon. The pregame starts at 12:35 with the 1st pitch at 1:35 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
