The Kansas City Royals snapped the Boston Red Sox's 7-game winning streak, winning 7-3 Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

Trade-deadline acquisition Dustin May struggled on the mound in his 1st start for the Red Sox. He went 3.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 1, hitting 2 batters. He threw 91 pitches.

Chris Murphy pitched 2.1 innings of hitless ball, striking out 3 and walking 1. Justin Hicks allowed 3 hits and 3 runs in the 7th inning, giving up a 3-run homer to Jonathan India. Isaiah Campbell pitched the 8th and 9th inning allowing 2 run on 3 hits.

Trevor Story was 2-4 with a pair of doubles, driving in 2 runs.

Romy Gonzalez ws 2-4 with a pair of doubles, and drove in 2 runs in the 1st inning, to give Boston a 2-0 lead at the time.

Roman Anthony, who inked an 8-year contract extension prior to the game was hitless, going 0-4 leading off for the Red Sox.

Boston is in 2nd place in the AL East, 4.0 games behind Toronto. They own the top Wild Card playoff spot.

Boston will head to the San Diego to take on the Padres, in the start of a 6-game road trip, with 3 games against the Padres and 3 games with the Houston Astros. Friday night's pregame starts at 8:40 with the 1st pitch at 9:40 on AM 1370 WDEA.
