The Boston Red Sox won in a laugher 9-0 over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, May 15th at Fenway Park. It was their 3rd win in a row.

Alex Verdugo, celebrating his 25th birthday was 2-3, hitting his 5th homer of the season, a solo shot in the 1st inning and singled in the 5th inning.

Xander Bogaerts was 2-2 with a double and homer, a 3 run shot in the 5th inning. He now has 9 homers on the season. Xander has hit 5 home runs and driven in 13 runs during the first half of May.

Rafael Devers was 2-3, hitting his 10 home run of the season, to tie JD Martinez for the club lead.

Franchy Cordero was 2-4 with a pair of RBI doubles

Bobby Dalbec was 2-4 with a pair of doubles, driving in 2 runs in the 4th inning.

Meanwhile Marin Perez pitched a season high 6.0 innings, and allowed a season low 3 hits. He struck out 5 but walked 4. Perez picked up his 1st win of the season and is 1-2 on the season.

Philips Valdez, Darwinzon Hernandez and Austin Brice each pitched a scoreless inning.

Dylan Bundy took the loss for Los Angeles and is 0-5. He went 4.0 innings, allowing 8 hits, 7 runs, striking out 3 and walking 2

Prior to the game the Red Sox place Garrett Whitlock on the COVID Related Injured List, with side effects from his 2nd COVID vaccine. He was replaced on the roster by Colten Brewer.

Boston is now a season high tying 9 games above .500 with a record of 25-16 and are in 1st place

The Red Sox and Angels will play the final game of the 3 game series Sunday afternoon. Nathan Eovaldi (4-2 and 4.20 ERA) is scheduled to start for Boston. The pregame starts at 12:10 and 1st pitch at 1:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
