Sonny Gray Improves To 16-3 After Red Sox Win Over The Giants

The Boston Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants 6-4 at Fenway Park on Friday, August 21st.

Willson Contreras his a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning, his 26th of the season. The homer went 450 feet and cleared the Green Monster and went onto Landsdowne Street.

Wilyer Abreu was 3-4 with a triple and drove in a run.

Jarren Duran was 2-3 with a triple.

Sonny Gray earned his 16th win and is now 16-3. He pitched 6.0 inning allowing 7 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 2.

Erik Miller faced his former team and struck out 2 in the 7th inning. Alex Gamboa pitched the 8th inning, striking out 1 and Aroldis Chapman earned his 28th save, striking out the side in the 9th inning.

Rafael Devers returned to Fenway and was met with a mixed reaction in his 1st plate appearance. Devers was traded to the Giants back in June 2025. He was 1-3 with a solo home run in the 4th inning, his 26th of the season.
