The Boston Red Sox snapped their 5 game losing streak, beating the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday night, September 12th, 7-4 in Canada.

Xander Bogaerts was 2-5 with his 50th double of the season. He now is the only shortstop besides Alex Rodriguez, in major league history with 50 doubles and 30 homers in a single season. A-Rod did it in 1996. Big Papi, David Ortiz is the only other Red Sox player in history with 50 doubles and 30 homers. He did it in 2007. Rafael Devers is just a homer away from joining this elite club!

Mookie Betts was 3-5 from the lead-off spot. Brock Holt, playing 3rd base in the place of Devers was 2-4. Marco Hernandez and JD Martinez each had a double.

It was another bullpen game for the Red Sox. Jhoulys Chacin had another good start for Boston, throwing 2.2 innings and allowing 2 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. Darwinzon Hernandez got the final out of the 3rd inning. Josh Taylor picked up the win, throwing the scoreless 4th inning. Brian Johnson allowed 2 runs in the 5th, before Ryan Brasier got the final out. Andrew Cashner threw a scoreless inning, the 6th, and Marcus Walden a scoreless 7th. Matt Barnes allowed a run in the 8th, walking 3 before Brandon Workman threw the final 1.1 innings allowing 1 run and picking up his 12th save of the season.

The Red Sox are 77-70. The tragic number for elimination from the wild card is 6 games. They are off on Friday night, before opening a 2 game series in Philadelphia . Eduardo Rodriguez is scheduled to pitch for Boston with the pregame starting at 6:05 with the first pitch at 7:05.
