It was good news-bad news for the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, July 27th. They beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 but lost Aroldis Chapman to back spasms and he will have to miss a few games.

Trailing 3-1 in the 5th inning, the Red Sox scored 3 runs, powered by Roman Anthony's triple and then Alex Bregman's 13th home run, a 2-run shot, gave Boston the lead.

Anthony's triple at 21 years and 75 days, made him the youngest Red Sox player since Dwight Evans to hit a triple. Evans was 20 years old in 1972, and he threw out the 1st pitch Sunday afternoon. Anthony batted leadoff, becoming the youngest Red Sox player to do so since Luis Alvarado did it in 1968 at 19 years old. Anthony has reached base in 29 of his last 32 games, since June 18th and is batting .309 with 12 doubles, and 12 runs batted in.

Bregman who was 1-3 has reached base in 38 of his last 44 games, since April 15th.

Ceddanne Rafaela, playing 2nd base, had the defensive play of the game, in the 8th inning. He caught a line drive, dove to 2nd base doubling off a runner to end the inning. The play was originally called safe, but was overturned on review!

Walker Buehler started for the Red Sox on the mound. He held the 1st 10 batters hitless but allowed 3 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings. He left after 4.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 4 and walking 5

Aroldis Chapman  pitching in the 8th inning had to leave after walking 2 batters, with back spasms.

Justin Hicks came on and worked the final 1.2 innings, allowing 1 walk and striking out 1 to earn his 2nd save of the season.

Brennan Bernardino struck out 1 in the 5th inning to earn the win and is now 4-2.
