The Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, July 31st, 9-4 as Ceddanne Rafaela's 2-run homer in the 5th inning sparked a 5-run inning. The win capped Boston's best month in franchise history as they went 21-4 in July.

Rafaela went 3-5 on the night.

Caleb Durbin was 2-4 with a double and Andruw Monasterio was 1-5 with a double and drove in 2 runs. Jarren Duran was 2-4 and drove in 2 runs. Masataka Yorshida had a pair of singles and drove in a run.

Willson Contreras was hit in the ear-flap of his helmet by a 95 mile per hour fastball in the 3rd inning and came out of the game for precautionary reasons.

Ranger Suarez started on the mound and went 4.2 innings. He allowed 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 2 and walking a pair. Jovi Moran recorded 1 out, allowing 3 hits and a home run to Shohei Ohtani, his 24th of the year. Brayan Bello picked up the win, pitching the final 4 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 3 and walking 1.

Boston is now 58-51, a season-best 7 games over .500. They are in 3rd place in the AL East, and own the 2nd Wild Card spot.

Boston and the Dodgers will play Saturday night, with the pregame starting at 8:10 p.m. on WDEA AM 1370.
