The MDI Trojans advanced to the Regional Finals next Saturday night, November 11th and will host the winner of the Winslow-MCI semifinal after beating the Oceanside Mariners 51-14 on Friday, November 3rd in Bar Harbor.

Oceanside won the toss and elected to defer giving MDI the ball first. The Trojans took the ball on their own 49 yard line, and it took only 4 plays and 59 seconds for MDI to score when Croix Albee ran in from 2 yards out. In a twist, the Trojans put big Gilbert Isaacs, normally a lineman in the backfield and he rumbled in for the 2 point conversion. With 10:53 remaining in the 1st Quarter MDI led 8-0.

Oceanside took over at their own 38 yard line. 7 plays and 4:34 later, Ben Ripley ran in from 2 yards out. Titus Kaewthong kicked the extra point, and with 6:14 remaining in the 1st Quarter, MDI led 8-7.

MDI took over on their own 20 yard line, and Oceanside's defense forced the Trojans to punt. Oceanside took over on their own 46 yard line with 1:24 remaining in the 1st Quarter. The Mariners were in the end zone 2 plays and 48 seconds later as Michael Norton Jr. took a Kaewthong pass and split the MDI defenders, scoring on a 55 yard catch and run. Kaewthong kicked the point after, and Oceanside was up 14-8.

That would be the last time that Oceanside would score, as MDI proceeded to run off 43 unanswered points!

Taking the ball on their own 34 yard line with 18.9 seconds left in the 1st Quarter , MDI took the ball down and scored on a 7 play drive that took 3:46. The big play in the drive was quarterback Andrew Phelps' 33 yard run. Albee scored from the 1 yard line, and Colby Lee ran in the 2 point conversion. With 8:32 left in the 1st Half MDI was up 16-14.

Oceanside took over on their own 20 yard line, and MDI forced a punt, and took over on their own 36 yard line with 6:11 remaining in the 1st Half. Lee found a hole and scored from 44 yards out, in a 3 play drive that took 1:05. Isaacs ran in the 2 point conversion, and with 5:06 remaining in the 1st Half, the Trojans led 24-14.

Oceanside took over on their own 32 yard line, and MDI's defense forced the Mariners to turn the ball over on downs. MID took over on their own 34 yard line with 1:04 remaining. It took just 43 second and Albee was in the end zone for the 3rd of his 4th touchdown of the night. Isaacs ran in again for the 2 point conversion and with 21.7 seconds left in the 1st Half, MDI was up 32-14.

That's how the 1st Half ended, and MDI had 270 yards rushing while Oceanside had 69 yards.

Oceanside took the opening 2nd Half kickoff at their own 29 yard line. But Colby Lee picked off Kaewthong's pass and nearly ran it back for a pick-6, before being tackled at the Oceanside 4 yard line. It took 2 plays and 41 seconds and Albee scored his 4th touchdown. The 2 point conversion was no good, and with 9:22 left in the 3rd Quarter, MDI was up 38-14.

MDI then recovered an onside kick, taking over on the Mariner's 43 yard line.This time it took the Trojans 5:41 to score when Colby Lee ran in from the 13 yard line. The 2 point conversion was no good, and MDI was up 44-14.

After Oceanside turned the ball over on downs, MDI had the ball on their own 42 yard line with 1:08 left in the 3rd Quarter. Elijah Joyce scored from 18 yards out, in a drive that took 2:32. James McConomy kicked the extra point, and the Trojans led 51-14.

MDI finished with 424 rushing yards compared to Oceanside's 69 yards.

MDI will host the Regional Finals on Saturday, November 11th with the pregame starting at 6:40 PM and kickoff at 7 PM. The game has been scheduled for Saturday night because of the opening night of the Drama Department's "Into the Woods" which will take place Friday, November 10th at 7 PM. The performance scheduled for Saturday November 11th at 7 PM is now scheduled for a matinee at 2 PM..
