The Boston Red Sox had their 9-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, August 8th at Fenway, losing to the Athletics 7-3. The win snapped the A's 9-game losing streak. Boston's loss was just their 6th in 38 games (32-6), since June 25th.

Boston jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, and were cruising into the 4th inning. Jake Bennett held the Athletics scoreless through 3.0 innings, retiring 9 out of the 1st 10 batters he faced. He left after 5.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and 4 runs, striking out 5 and walking 3. He took the loss and is now 7-5 on the season.

Jahmai Jones was 3-5 with a pair of doubles, and stole 2 bases for the Red Sox.

Nick Sogard was 3-4 with a pair of doubles.

Andruw Monasterio was 1-3 with 2 runs batted in. He extended his career-long on-base streak to 20 games.

Willson Contreras was 1-5.

The Red Sox were held homerless for the 1st time since July 27th, snapping a 11-game streak, where they had hit 20 homers.
