MDI Falls to Orono 62-52 [Box Score]

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team fell to the Orono Red Riots, Monday evening, January 18th in Orono 62-52 in a game that was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 16th.

MDI took a 3-0 lead on Riley Swanson's 3-pointer, but that would be the only time the Trojans would have the lead. At the end of the 1st Quarter, Orono led 20-12. Kam Hines had 8 points for Orono, while Nate DeSisto had 5 points including a 3-pointer. Jackson Couts had 3 points, while Imao Wording and  Jake Koffman had 2 points each. For MDI Swanson had 2 3-pointers for 6 points and Graham Good had 4 points while Drew Rich had 2 points.

MDI cut the lead to 7 points at the half, as Orono led 35-28. For MDI Good had 4 points, Gus Reeves had 4 points and Colby Lee and Swanson each drained 3-pointers. Isaiah Keene had 2 points for MDI. For Orono Connor Robertson had 7 points including a 3-pointer, DeSisto had 6 points and Hines had 2 points.

MDI cut the lead to 3 points in the 3rd Quarter, and at the end of the 3rd Quarter, Orono led 43-39. For MDI Swanson had 5 points including another 3-pointer, while Aaron Snurkowski, Russell Kropff and Isaiah Keene all had 2 points. For Orono, DeSisto had 5 points including a 3-poniter, Hines had 2 points and Robertson had 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, Orono was 9-14 from the free throw to seal the victory, as MDI was forced to foul. For MDI Swanson had another 3-pointer and Snurkowski had a 3-pointer while Good had 4 points.

MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 18 points, with 5 3-pointers, while Graham Good had 12 points. The Trojans were 7-10 from the free throw line

Orono was led by Nate DeSisto with 22 points whle Kam Hines had 14 points. Orono was 11-22 from the free throw line.

With the loss, MDI is now 9-3. The Trojans play host to Presque Isle Friday, January 22nd at 7:30 PM and then Caribou on Saturday, January 23rd at 2:30. Both games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Orono is now 12-2 and will play host to Dexter on Friday, January 22nd.
