MDI Boys 68 Old Town 52

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team handed the Old Town Coyotes their 2nd loss of the season, defeating them 68-52 in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, January 13th.

The Trojans jumped out to a 13-6 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Riley Swanson had 6 points, including a 3-pointer, Andrew Phelps had a 3-pointer and Russell Kropff and Isaiah Keene had 2 points each. For Old Town Kaleb Giffords had a 3-pointer and Drew Coulombe had 2 points.

MDI increased their lead to 16 points at the end of the 1st Half, as the Trojans had a 34-18 lead. For MDI Graham Good had 6 points in the 2nd Quarter, Swanson had 2 more 3-pointers for 6 points, Kropff had 5 points including a 3-pointer. For Old Town, Giffords had a 3-pointer, Coulombe had 3 points and Ryan Hoogterp had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Old Town cut the lead to 13 points, but could never cut the lead below 10 points. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, MDI was up 45-32. Aaron Snurkowski drained a 3-pointer, and Kropff, Phelps, Gus Reeves, and Swanson all had 2 points. For Old Town, Coulombe had 7 points, Andre Miller had 4 points and Hoogterp had a 3-pointer.

In the 4th Quarter, Andre Miller had 11 points for Old Town including a 3-pointer and Giffords had 4 points. MDI hit 15-18 free throws in the 4th Quarter, as Old Town was forced to foul. Good had 8 points, Swanson had 4 points and Snurkowski had 5 points.

MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 18 points, while Graham Good had 14 points and Andrew Phelps and Russell Kropff had 9 points each. MDI was 16-21 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Andre Miller with 18 points, Drew Coulombe had 14 points and Kaleb Giffords had 10 points. Coulombe and Ryan Hoogterp both fouled out in the 4th Quarter. Old Town was 14-22 from the free throw line.

MDI improved to 9-2 and will play at Orono on Saturday, January 16th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio

Old Town is now 9-2 and will play at Ellsworth on Friday, January 15th at 7 PM. This game was originally scheduled to played on Saturday, but has been changed because of the expected snow.
