MDI Beats Old Town 64-24

The MDI Trojans started their defense of the Eastern Maine Class B Title with an impressive 64-24 victory over the Old Town Coyotes on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

The game was never in doubt, as MDI raced out to a 22-6 1st Quarter lead, paced by Sarah Phelps who had 12 points in the 1st Quarter including 2 3-pointers. Molly Carroll had 4 points and Kelsey Shaw had 4 points as well for the Trojans.

In the 2nd Quarter, MDI's shooting went cold, but they still took a 38-11 at the half. Phleps hit another 3 -pointer, and Sierra Tapley had 5 points in the quarter, including a 3-pointer. Shaw added 4 more points for MDI. Lauren Martin had 4 points for the Coyotes.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI continued to substitute liberally, and took a 50-17 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Tapley added 4 more points for MDI, and Keely McConomy had 4 points in the quarter. Lauren Martin had 7 more points for Old Town.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI played their reserves primarily, and Julianna Cleaves poured in 8 points and Sara Norberg added 6 points for MDI. Lauren Martin had 4 more points for Old Town.

Sarah Phelps had 15 points for MDI, Sierra Tapley had 11 points and Kelsey Shaw had 10 points for the Trojans. MDI went 6-10 from the free throw line.

Lauren Martin had a game high 16 points for Old Town. Old Town was 8-19 from the free throw line.

MDI starts the season 1-0 and plays host to Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday, December 9th at 7 PM. Old Town is 0-1 and plays at home against John Bapst on Tuesday, December 9th at 7 PM.
