Ellsworth Girls 42 Old Town 34 [BOX SCORE]

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team remained perfect on the season, defeating the Old Town Coyotes 42-34 at Mackenzie Gymnasium in Old Town, but it wasn't without a few tense minutes, especially in the 4th Quarter.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the 1st Quarter. Madison Card had 6 points for Ellsworth, while Kate Whitney had 3 points. For Old Town, Abby Sharp had 6 points.

It was 23-19 at the end of the 1st Half, with Ellsworth holding a 4 point lead. Whitney had 5 points including a 3-pointer for Ellsworth, while Katelynn Bagley had a 3-pointer as well. Mikayla Richards drained 2 3-pointers for Old Town, while Sharp was 4-4 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth went on a 9-0 run, after Old Town had tied the score 23-23 with 7:13 remaining in the 3rd Quarter. Hannah Sargent knocked in a 3-pointer for Ellsworth, then Callie Hammer scored, and Maddie Card knocked in 2 baskets. At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth was up by 7 points, 32-25.

In the 4th Quarter, Old Town outscored Ellsworth 9-3 to start the Quarter, and Ellsworth's lead was 35-34 with 3:41 remaining in the game as Mikayla Richards and Brooke Mishou drained back to back 3-pointers for Old Town. But then Bagley scored, and Card scored, and Ellsworth hit a few free throws while clamping down on Old Town's offense, to come away with the 42-34 victory.

Ellsworth was led by Madison Card with 18 points, while Kate Whitney had 9 points. The Eagles were 7-20 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Abby Sharp with 12 points, while Mikayla Richards had 9 points, all coming via the 3-pointer. Old Town was 10-17 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 3-0 plays up in Lincoln against Mattanawcook Academy on Friday, December 18th at 7 PM.

Old Town, now 0-4 travels to play Caribou on Saturday, December 19th at 2 PM.
