The Ellsworth Eagles defeated the Foxcroft Academy 63-57 on Saturday, December 5th in Dover-Foxcroft in the team's mutual opener of the 2015-16 High School Basketball season.

Ellsworth took a 15-12 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Eagles hit 3 3-pointers, one each from Zach Harris, Bryce Harmon and Charlie Libby. Foxcroft Academy's Hunter Smith the reigning Big East Player of the Year hit 2 3-pointers for 6 points.

Ellsworth outscored Foxcroft Academy 18-12 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-24 lead at the half. Bruce St. Peter had 6 points for the Eagles, while Nick Bagley had 4 points includeing a 3-pointer. Libby and Harris also added another 3-pointer each for the Eagles. Drew Denkert scored 7 points for the Ponies while Hunter Smith added 6 more points.

At Half-time, Ellsworth made a defensive change, putting Bruce St. Peter on Hunter Smith, and Smith only scored a 3-pointer in the 3rd Quarter. Noah Allen, a transfer, scored 8 points in the quarter for the Ponies including a 3-pointer, as Foxcroft Academy outscored Ellsworth 15-12. For Ellsworth, Harris and Libby each added another 3-pointer, and Bagley scored 4 points in the Quarter. At the end of the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth led 47-39

In the 4th Quarter, Foxcroft had an opportunity to hit 2 free throws to tie the game, but were unable to do so. Foxcroft Academy's Noah Allen had 11 points in the Quarter, including 3 3-pointers. But, The Ellsworth Eagles went 10-17 from the free throw line to keep the lead and come away with the victory.

Ellsworth was led by Bruce St. Peter with 13 points, while Zach Harris and Nick Bagley each had 12 points. Bryce Harmon ended up with double figures, 10 points. Ellsworth was 17-28 from the free throw line in the game. Harris had 3 3-pointers, Charlie Libby had 3 3-pointers and Bryce Harmon and Nick Bagley each had a 3-pointer.

Foxcroft Academy was led byNoah Allen with 19 points including 4 3-pointers. Hunter Smith had 16 points, with 3 3-pointers while Drew Denkert had 13 points including a 3-pointer. The Ponies were 9-13 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is 1-0 and will play Central High School on Wednesday, December 9th at Katsiaficas Gymnasium

Foxcroft Academy 0-1 will play host to John Bapst on Wednesday December 9th at 7 PM.
