The Ellsworth Eagle's bats came alive on Saturday afternoon as they banged out 8 hits, but they fell to the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 7-6 in Ellsworth on April 30th.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, but Foxcroft tied it in the top of the 3rd inning and then added 4 runs in the top of the 4th to take a 6-2 lead. Ellsworth got 1 run back in the bottom of the 5th to make it 6-3. Foxcroft Academy added another run in the top of the 6th. Ellsworth clawed back in the bottom of the 7th inning to draw within 1 run but it wasn't quite enough.

Ellsworth was led by Austin Baron who was 2-4 with a double. Sam Horne was 2-4. Jack Lee, Hunter Cote, Jared Hamilton and Sam Giffin all had singles for the Eagles.

Foxcroft was led by Billy Brock who was 2-3 and Noah Allen who was 2-3 with a double.  Chandler Rockwell had a double. Nate Church, Tanner Strout, Jason Thompson and Levi Stedman all had singles.

Ellsworth's Nick Bagley pitched a complete game, allowing 9 hits, 7 runs, 4 of them earned. He walked 4 and struck out 4.

Nate Church pitched 5 innings for the Ponies, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 of which was earned and struck out 1 while walking 3. Noah Allen pitched the last 2 innings in relief, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, 2 of which were earned and walking 1.

Ellsworth is now 0-4 and play at Washington Academy on Monday, May 2nd at 4:30 and then host MDI on Thursday, May 5th at 4:30 PM. The MDI-Ellsworth game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA.

Foxcroft Academy is now 4-1 and plays at Old Town on Thursday May 5th at 4:30 PM.
