Eagles Nipped By Ponies 50-48 [Box Score/Recap]

The Ellsworth Eagles Girls Basketball Team was nipped by the Foxcroft Ponies 50-48 on Monday, January 29th in Dover-Foxcroft. The Eagles had a chance to win with 0.2 seconds but Trinity Montigny's 3-pointer as time expired hit the backboard,and rim but didn't fall through the hoop.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 9-6 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Kaitlynn Bagley had 4 points, Trinity Montigny hit a 3-pointer and Hannah Sargent added 2 points for the Eagles. Makenzie Beaudry scored all of Foxcroft's 6 points.

Ellsworth maintained their 3 point lead at the end of the 1st Half, leading 23-20. Trinity Montigny scored all of Ellsworth's 14 points, with a 3-pointer and going 7-7 from the free throw line. For Foxcroft Academy Beaudry had 6 more points. Cailyn Seavey had 6 points and Jenna Anderson added 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter Foxcroft Academy outscored Ellsworth 19-9 to take a 41-32 lead. In the 3rd Quarter Ainsley Ade had 8 points with 2 3-pointers. Seavey had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Beaudry had 4 more points and Olivia Weasley added 2 points for the Ponies. For Ellsworth Bagley had 4 points, Kylie Robidoux added 3 points and Montigny added 2 more points.

In the 4th Quarter Sargent had 8 points for Ellsworth, with 2 3-pointers. Bagley had 5 points and Montigny went 3-6 from the free throw line. Foxcroft Academy went 5-10 from the free throw line in the 4thd Quarter. Avery Nelson had 3 points. Beaudry added 2 more points, Wesley 2 points and Seavey and Ade each was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth had 3 players in double figures. Trinity Montigny had a game high 22 points, Kaitlynn Bagley 13 points and Hannah Sargent 10 points. The Eagles were 14-20 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Makenzie Beaudry with 18 points and Cailyn Seavey had 12 points. The Ponies were 11-22 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth now 8-7 play host to GSA on Thursday, February 1st on Senior Night at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth with the tip-off at 7PM.

Foxcroft Academy, 3-11 plays at Hermon on Wednesday, January 31st at 7PM.
