Red Sox’s 5-game Winning Streak Snapped as Benches Clear and Boston Loses 8-1 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox's 5-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday night, June 30th when they lost to the Washington Nationals 8-1. For the 2nd straight night, Willson Contreras was ejected after the benches cleared.

Cade Cavalli, who struck out 13 and picked up the win for the Nationals, yelled at Contreras after he struck him out. When Contreras started walking to the mound, the benches cleared. Contreras, Nate Eaton and interim-manager Chad Tracy were all ejected from the game.

Connolly Early started for the Red Sox and went 4.0 innings. He didn't allow a run, and struck out 5 walking 2. He left the game with left elbow discomfort after 61 pitches

Greg Weissert ended up taking the loss. He allowed a hit and 2 runs, walking and striking out 1.

Tommy Kahnle allowed 4 hits and 4 runs, walking 1 in the 8th inning, as the Nationals broke open the game.

Anthony Siegler was 1-4 with a double, extending his hitting streak to a career-high 8 games.

Boston (37-47) and Washington (44-43) will play the final game of the 3-game series on Wednesday afternoon, with the pregame starting at 12:35 p.m. on WDEA AM 1370.
