Red Sox Lose to Rockies 3-2 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox found a new way to lose on Monday night, as the Colorado Rockies had 8 straight hits in the 8th and 9th innings and walked-off the Red Sox 3-2.

Jake Bennett was nearly perfect for the Red Sox. The starter pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just 4 hits. He struck out 9 and didn't walk a batter.

Taylor Guerrero pitched a hitless 7th. In the 8th inning, Garrett Whitlock allowed 4 hits but miraculously the Rockies didn't score a run. In the 9th inning, Aroldis Chapman allowed 3 straight hits to load the bases. Again the Rockies hadn't scored, until Jake McCarthy hit a line drive down the left field line. The ball bounced off the wall, clearing the bases, as McCarthy's triple gave the Rockies the win. Chapman dropped to 0-3 on the season.

Boston managed just 5 hits on the night. They were just 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left 7 runners on base.

Caleb Durbin was 2-3 with a double and drove in a run. Willson Contreras was 1-3 with a double and run batted in. Marcelo Mayer was 1-4 with a double. Wilyer Abreu had Boston's other hit.

The Red Sox (31-45) and Rockies (31-48) will play game 2 of the 3-game series on Tuesday night, June 23rd, with the pregame starting at 7:40 p.m. and 1st pitch at 8:40 p.m. on WDEA AM 1370.
