Angels Outstlug Boston 12-4 Saturday
The Boston Red Sox held the Los Angeles Angels to just 5 hits in their 1st 2 games at Fenway Park on Thursday and Friday. Saturday afternoon the Angels erupted for 11 hits and 2 homers en route to a 12-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox.
The Angels scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, 2 in the 6th inning and then erupted for 7 runs, batting around in the 7th inning. Steve Trout, who had never hit a homer at Fenway, hit his 39th homer of the season, a 2 run shot off of Rick Porcello in the 6th inning, for his 1st Fenway homer.
Porcello allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, including 2 homers. He struck out 3. He retired 14 consecutive batter from the 2nd out of the 1st inning through the final out of the 5th inning.
Darwinzon Hernandez allowed 4 runs on 2 hits and Hector Velazquez allowed 3 runs on 2 hits. Ryan Weber pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th for the Red Sox.
