Once again, the Pumpkin Train will take families on a fun ride through the foliage, complete with a stop at a pumpkin patch!

Downeast Scenic Railroad is once again hosting the Pumpkin Train, which offers something for the whole family. Moms, Dads, and Grandparents will enjoy the 1 1/2 hour ride through beautiful fall colors on the railways vintage trains.

And, for the kids, it's an extra-special trip! At one point during the ride, the train will make a stop at a pumpkin patch, where the kids can pick out their own pumpkins. As the trip continues, the tykes will be able to choose from a selection of Pumpkin Decorating Stickers to make the pumpkins their own.

The Pumpkin Trains will run on Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th, and will depart at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day. Tickets are $8 for children age 12 and under, $15 for all others. You can reserve your tickets in advance through the organization's website or by calling 1-866-449-RAIL (7245), but are then asked to show up 20 minutes before the event to pick up your tickets. Unclaimed seats and standing room sales begin 15 minutes before the train pulls out of the station.

Downeast Scenic Railroad is run by volunteers who work to preserve the history of Maine's railroads, so future generations can learn and older folks can remember how life used to be. The railroad offers scenic rides each year between May and late October.
