Acadian Minor Softball Beats Machias 22-12
The Acadian Minor Softball Team defeated Machias Thursday afternoon in the rain on July 7th in Bar Harbor. The Acadians are now 2-0 in the double elimination tournament and next will play the winner of the Ellsworth - Machias game, on Monday.
Machias jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning as they sent 10 batters to the plate. The Acadians answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st and after 1, Machias led 4-1.
Machias then scored 7 runs in the top of the 2nd inning, sending another 10 batters to the plate. The Acadians answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, as they sent 9 to the plate. After 2 innings, Machias led 11-7.
In the 3rd inning, Machias only scored 1 run, as the Acadians limited Machias to just 4 batters. In the bottom of the 3rd inning the Acadians erupted for 13 runs, batting around twice, as the Acadians sent 18 batters to the plate. After 3 innings, the Acadians led 20-12.
In the top of the 4th inning the Acadians held Machias scoreless and in the bottom of the 4th inning, the Acadians scored 2 runs to end the game in a 10-run mercy rule shortened game.
The Acadian 9-10 Softball All-Star Team is comprised of Emma Kennedy, Addy Boyce, Grace Horner, Soren Hopkins-Goff, Lexi Tozier, Lily Alley, Clair Moore, Mollie Gray, Kaya Gray, Taylor Grant, Brooke Goff, Carly Collier and Gracie Parker.
