With wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour predicted for Coastal Maine on Monday morning, October 30th you just had to know that Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park would be thundering and booming with huge waves!
The National Park Service is proposing increasing fees at select highly visited national parks -- including Acadia National Park -- during peak visitor seasons to generate needed revenue for improvements to the infrastructure including roads, bridges, campgrounds, waterlines, bathrooms and other visitor services.
The National Park Service is inviting photographers and other artists to submit digital images for use on Acadia National Park's 2018 Annual Pass. The selected image will appear on thousands of annual passes purchased by visitors from all over the country.
There is a Beach Hazard Warning in effect today, Sunday, September 24th until 8PM. Areas affected include Acadia National Park, Lamoine Beach, Schoodic Point Peninsula, Castine, Roque Bluffs State Park and Quoddy Head State Park.

There were High Surf Advisories in effect for Coastal Maine on Wednesday, September 20th, and they continue through 8 PM on Thursday, September 21st. Surf height is expected to be 6 to 10 feet and high tide today, Thursday, September 21st in Bar Harbor is at 12:13 PM.
Christie Anastasia an Acadia National Park Ranger joined WDEA's Chris Popper to talk about the Acadia Night Sky Festival that takes place September 21-24th. Anastasia talked about the Cadillac Star Party this Saturday and the weather is supposed to be clear with the temps in the 50's on Saturday night, perfect for star viewing! Acadia National Park's Maintenance Staff are continuing to make improvements to the Park, and the result is that certain parking lots will be closed next week, September 18th through the 21st. The one with the most impact may be the closure of the Thunder Hole parking lot on Tuesday, September 19th.
