Acadia National Park's Maintenance Staff are continuing to make improvements to the Park, and the result is that certain parking lots will be closed next week, September 18th through the 21st. The one with the most impact may be the closure of the Thunder Hole parking lot on Tuesday, September 19th.
Beginning August 10th and going through the Fall, Acadia National Park Rangers will begin safety checkpoints and enhanced traffic enforcement efforts in the Park to identify drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, and marijuana. Park Rangers will stop and make brief contact with all drivers passing through safety checkpoints while making every effort to minimize any inconvenience.
The National Park Service announced on Tuesday, August 1st that they will reopen the Precipice, Valley Cove and Jordan Cliffs and associated trails in Acadia National Park on Thursday, August 3rd. These areas had been closed since March 17th to protect the peregrine falcons during the nesting period.
There is a Beach Hazard Warning in effect today, Saturday, July 29th from 8 AM until 8 PM. Areas affected include Acadia National Park, Lamoine Beach, Schoodic Point Peninsula, Castine, Roque Bluffs State Park and Quoddy Head State Park.
