Trojans Outlast Eagles 38-25 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team defeated Ellsworth 38-25 in the final regular season game for the two squads, at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Thursday, February 8th. Both teams will have prelim playoff games tentatively scheduled for Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14th.

MDI jumped out to a 6-4 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Maddy Good, Mariah Hamor and Hannah Chamberlain had 2 points each for MDI. For Ellsworth Kacie Omlor banked in a 3-pointer and Callie Hammer sank a free throw.

At the end of the 1st Half, MDI led 16-7. Maddy Candage had 4 points in the quarter, and Maddy Good, Alexis Clarito and Maya Watras had 2 points for the Trojans. For Ellsworth Callie Hammer had 2 points and Trinity Montigny had 1 point.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored MDI 11-10, but MDI led 26-18 after the 3rd Quarter. In the 3rd Quarter, Trinity Montigny had 4 points for Ellwsworth, while Katley Bagley had 3 points and Sammy Mason and Callie Hammer had 2 points each. For MDI Maya Watras, Julia Watras, Maddy Good, Emma Watras and Mariah Hamor each chipped in 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI went 6-11 from the free throw line. Maya Watras had 5 points, Julia Watras and Maddy Candage had 3 points each and Maddy Good had 1 point for the Trojans. For Ellsworth Montigny had 6 points going 4-4 from the free throw line in the 4th Quarter and Katelynn Bagley had 1 point.

MDI was led by Maya Watras with 9 points with Maddy Good and Maddy Candage each had 7 points. The Trojans were 6-11 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 11 points while Callie Hammer had 5 points. The Eagles were 8-18 from the free throw line.

MDI finishes the regular season with a 11-7 record and in 8th place in the Heal Point Standings. They will play host to MCI in a prelim game on Valentine's Day, February 14th at a time to be determined.

Ellsworth finished the regular season with a 9-9 record and in 10th place in the Heal Point Standings. They will travel to Bangor to play John Bapst, the 7th seed at the Cross Insurance Center in a prelim game, likely on February 14th.
