The Boston Red Sox could have used 1 of those homers from Wednesday' night's game that was rained out. They only managed 5 hits on Thursday night, falling to the Minnesota Twins 2-1

The Boston Red Sox had a chance to tie or win the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jackie Bradley Jr. came to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 out. After the count went to 3-2 Fernando Rodney busted a fastball inside and Bradley Jr. struck out swinging.

Brian Johnson pitched well for the Red Sox. Thursday night he went 5.2 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits, striking out 5 and walking 3. Matt Barnes took the loss giving up the winning run in the 8th inning.

In the field Mookie Betts had 2 assists. In the top of the 1st inning he threw a runner out at the plate and then in the 6th inning he began an 8-5-4-2 putout.

The New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday night 7-2 and are now 4.5 games behind the Red Sox. The Yankees and Rays play again Friday night.

The Boston Red Sox will send Chris Sale to the mound Friday night, as they play the Twins in the 2nd game of the 4 game series. Pregame starts at 6:20 with the 1st pitch at 7:05 on AM 1370 WDEA.
