The Boston Red Sox snapped their 2 game losing streak, beating the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon 7-5. The Red Sox broke open the game in the top of the 8th inning scoring 4 runs.

One of the plays of the game happened in the 7th inning. It looked like the Red Sox had hit into an inning ending double play, but manager John Farrell appealed the out at 2nd base.

Turns out the Red Sox were right and Ian Kinsler never touched the bag. Marco Hernandez was ruled safe at 2nd and later scored on Andrew Benintendi's single. Hernandez was 3-4 with a RBI playing shortstop. Chris Young playing DH was 2-4 with a walk. Sandy Leon was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.

Rick Porcello pitched 6 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 earned on 11 hits. He struck out 8 and walked 1. Matt Barnes picked up the win in relief, going 2 innings striking out 3, and allowing just 1 hit and 0 runs. Craig Kimbrel picked up his 2nd save of the season, but it wasn't without peril, as he gave up 1 run, walked 2, struck out 3 and gave up 1 hit.

The Boston Red Sox will send Chris Sale to the mound on Monday, as they go for the series split. The pregame starts at 12:25 and 1st pitch is at 1:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
