The Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday afternoon, May 13th as Chris Sale proved again that he's the ace of the Boston pitching staff and one of the top pitchers in Major League Baseball. He struck out 12 and has 85 strikeouts in his 8 starts for the Red Sox, and he's tied with Randy Johnson for the most strikeouts through their first 8 starts with a team.

Sale went 7 innings, allowing just 2 hits (both homers), 3 Earned Runs, striking out 12 and walking just 2. Joe Kelly pitched a scoreless 8th inning giving up 1 hit and striking out 1. Craig Kimbrel pitched the 9th for his 11th save of the season, striking out 2.

Mookie Betts was 2-4 with a Homerun, and a double, driving in 3 RBIs. It was his 6th homer of the season. Betts now has 13 doubles, 2nd in the AL, behind Mitch Moreland.

Dustin Pedroia was 1-3 with a double, which was his 382nd career double, passing Bobby Doerr for 6th most in Red Sox history.
