Red Sox Beat Orioles 1-0 as Gasper Hits Home Run [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 1-0 on Friday night, September 4th at Camden Yard in Baltimore as Mickey Gasper hit a solo homer in the 1st inning for the lone run.

It was Boston's 15th shutout of the season, trailing just the Phillies who lead the majors with 16 shutouts.

Gasper ended the night 2-4. It was his 8th homer of the season.

Ranger Suarez was brilliant on the mound. He pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just 5 hits and struck out 3, while walking just 1. He improved his record to 6-4.

Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th inning, allowing just a hit. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 32nd save of the season, striking out 1 in the 9th inning. It was Chapman's 399th career save.

The benches cleared and bullpens emptied in the 8th inning when the Red Sox completed an inning-ending double play, with Blaze Alexander's hard slide into 2nd base and words after the out causing the ruckus.

Boston picked up a game on the Yankees who lost Friday night. They trail New York by 3.5 games for the 1st Wild Card playoff spot.

Boston and Baltimore will play the 3rd game of the 4-game series Saturday night, with the pregame starting at 6:05 p.m. on WDEA AM 1370.
