Pierzynski to the Sox?

According to WEEI, the flagship station for the Boston Red Sox, the Red Sox are close to signing free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski for one year.

Pierzynski played for Texas in 2013, appearing in 134 games, batting .272 and hitting 17 home runs while driving in 70 runs batted in. Pierzynski's signing would seem to mean that the Boston Red Sox are no longer interested in bringing back Jarrod Saltalamacchia, as they have David Ross as the reserve catcher.
