The Boston Red Sox snapped a 2-game losing streak, beating the Detroit Tigers 8-6 on Patriot's Day, Monday, April 20th.

Sonny Gray started on the mound. He was pulled from the game in the 3rd inning with right hamstring tightness. He went 2.2 innings allowing 3 hits and a run, striking out 2 and walking 1.

The Red Sox then used 7 pitchers in the game. It was the 1st time the Red Sox had won this season when their starting pitcher went less than 6 innings. They are now 1-13  in those games.

Garrett Whitlock picked up the win and is 2-1 on the season. Aroldis Chapman recorded the final 2 outs of the game for his 4th save of the season.

Ceddanne Rafaela hit a pinch hit 2-run single in the 7th inning to give Boston a 5-3 lead at the time. He extended his career-long on-base streak to 16 games.

Roman Anthony was 1-2 with a run batted in and walked 3 times.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa was 1-2 and drove in 2 runs with a single in the 8th inning.

Carlos Narvaez was 2-3 with a RBI single in the 7th inning and also had a double.

Caleb Durbin was 2-4 with a double. Masataka Yoshida was 2-4 and scored a pair o runs.

Boston is now 9-13 while the Tigers are 12-11.

Boston now hosts a 3-game series with the New York Yankees starting on Tuesday, April 21st. The Red Sox will send Connolly Early to the mound. You can hear the game on Tuesday, on WDEA AM 1370 with the pregame starting at 5:45 p.m.
