Red Sox Shut Out Yankees 6-0 In Saturday Doubleheader Opener

The Boston Red Sox shutout the New York Yankees 6-0 in game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the New York Yankees, as Jake Bennett threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit baseball.

Bennett struck out 7 and didn't walk a batter. Tyron Guerrero pitched the 7th inning and Garret Whitlock fresh off the injured list pitched the 8th inning, striking out 1. Jovani Moran pitched the 9th inning.

The Red Sox optioned Wyatt Olds down to Worcester to make room for Whitlock on the roster.

Wilyer Abreu hit a solo home run, his 23rd in the 1st inning.

Adley Rutschman who had been struggling at the plate was 3-4 and scored 2 runs.

Nick Sogard was 2-4 with a double and drove in a run.

Andruw Monasterio was 2-4 with 2 runs batted in.

Ceddanne Rafaela after getting turned around in center made a beautiful throw to Sogard who gunned down the runner at the plate to keep the game scoreless.
