The Boston Red Sox played more like the April team on Wednesday, August 26th, rather than the hottest team in baseball, losing to the Florida Marlins 4-0. Boston had just 5 hits, and committed 4 errors. The loss snapped Boston's 5-game winning streak.

The Re Sox left 9 runners on base, and were 0-4 with runners in scoring position.

Sonny Gray took the loss for the Red Sox and his record dropped to 16-4. He pitched 5.0 innings and allowed 7 hits and 2 runs, striking out 5 and walking 1. Wyatt Olds allowed 2 hits and 2 runs in the 8th inning, striking out and walking 1.

Caleb Durbin had 2 of Boston's hits. Mickey Gaspar who had reached base 4 times on Monday and Tuesday was 0-3, reaching base once on a walk.

It was a tough night in the field for Connor Wong and Nick Sogard as they each committed 2 errors.

Willson Contreras was given the night off and Adley Rutschman missed his 2nd game in-a-row with elbow soreness.
