MMA Men’s Basketball Opens 2023-24 Campaign with 77-59 Win Over Central Maine Community College
The Maine Maritime Men's Basketball Team opened their 2023-24 season with a 77-59 win over Central Maine Community College on Wednesday, November 8th in Castine.
The Mariners led 40-31 at the end of the 1st Half, and outshot the Mustangs 37-28 in the 2nd Half.
Maine Maritime had 4 players in double figures. Markuz Ramirez and Carter Rubin paced the Mariners with 18 points each, while Isaiah Oqendo and Curt Heinz each finished with 11 points.
Heinz had a double-double, finishing the game with a game-high 12 rebounds, to go along with his 11 points. He also finished with a game-high 8 assists.
Maine Maritime was 27-58 from the field, and were 15-35 from beyond the 3-point arc. They were 8-13 from the free throw line.
Central Maine Community College was led by Boston Caldwell with a game-high 20 points. Jackson Birmingham had 15 points.
The Mustangs were 23-53 from the field, and were 9-16 from beyond the 3-point arc. They were 4-9 from the free throw line.
The Mariners are 1-0. They host UMaine Augusta on Friday night, November 10th at 7 p.m.
