MDI Boys Sweep Ponies

The MDI Boy's Baseball Team started off the season on a positive note, sweeping the Foxcroft Academy Ponies, 7-2 and 5-3 at Dover Foxcroft.

In game 1, the MDI Trojans rode the strong arm of Steven Hanscom, who pitched a 7 inning complete game gem! Hanscom only allowed 1 hit, striking out 5 and allowing only 2 runs, both unearned.

Jon Phelps went 1-3, scoring 2 runs and had 2 stolen bases. Tom Paola: 1-3 scoring a run and knocking in 1 RBI. Steven Hanscom helped his own cause, batting 1-3 with 2 stolen bases. Seth Young went 1-3 scoring a run and stole a base. Boomer Carroll went 1-3 with a run batted in and a stolen base. Dylan Collins went 2-3 scoring two runs and Sandy Henggler went 1-2 batting.

In the second game, the Trojans won 5-3, as Jon Phelps pitched a 7 inning complete game. Phelps struck out 8, walking 4, allowing 6 hits and gave up 3 runs, 2 of which were earned.

Tom Paola went 3-3 batting knocking in 4 RBI's. Jon Phelps helped his own cause, batting 1-3, scoring a run and stealing a base. Riley Swanson had a run batted in. Steven Hanscom went 2-4 at the plate. Boomer Carroll went 2-3 batting and Dylan Collins scored 3 runs for the Trojans.

The Trojans play at home Tuesday against George Stevens Academy in a makeup of the game that was scheduled for April 24th and then play host to Ellsworth on Thursday, May 1st at 4:30.
