The MDI Football Team defeated Ellsworth 46-26 at Tug White Stadium at Ellsworth High School on Wednesday, October 28th. It was the 1st game for Ellsworth and 2nd game for MDI.

The 6 on 6 football field is 45 yards long. The teams played flag football the 1st Half, and touch in the 2nd Half. Teams played 15 minute running time quarters.

Ellsworth led 26-25 at the end of the 1st Half.

MDI scored 1st on a 40 yard pass from Spencer Laurendeau to Alex Fernald. MDI went for an extra point but Fernald's kick went wide. The Trojans led 6-0 with 13:58 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

Ellsworth scored when Isaac Rowells completed a 10 yard pass to Brody Mercier. The 2 point conversion was no good and the score was tied 6-6 with 11:09 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

MDI scored again, this time on a pass from Laurendau to Hunter Gray. The 2 point conversion was no good and the Trojans led 12-6 with 9:25 remaining in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans score again, this time Laurendau completing a 10 yard pass to Hunter Heath,. The 2 point conversion was no good and the Trojans were up 18-6 with 1:09 left in the 1st Quarter.

Ellsworth scored with 11:20 left in the 2nd Quarter, as Rowell completed a 15 yard pass to Andy Herrick. The 2 point conversion was no good and Ellsworth trailed 18-12.

Ellsworth took the lead with 3:33 remaining in the 1st Half when Rowell completed a 30 yard pass to Chance Mercier. The 2 point conversion was good, and Ellsworth led 20-18.

Ellsworth made it 26-18 when Chance Mercier intercepted Laurendau's pass and ran it back for the touchdown. The 2 point conversion was no good, and Ellsworth led 26-18.

MDI scored to start the 3rd Quarter as Alex Fernald intercepted Rowells and scored. The extra point was good, as Fernald kicked it through the uprights, and MDI trailed 26-25

There were then a series of interceptions to stop drives. Alex Gray intercepted Rowells. Chance Mercier interecepted Baylor Landsman who played QB for MDI in the 2nd Half. Hunter Gray intercepted a pass for MDI and Alex Fernald intercepted his 2nd pass of the game for the Trojans.

Finally MDI scored with 6:19 remaining in the 4th Quarter as Landsman completed a 30 yard pass to Grady Wellman-Webster. Fernald's extra point kick was good and MDI led 32-26.

The Trojans would drive the length of the field again with Landsman completing a 10 yard pass to Wilder Noyes with 52.3 seconds remaining. Fernald's extra point was good and it was 39-26

Finally MDI scored again on Fernald's pick 6 interception of Rowells. The extra point was good with 36.9 seconds left and the final score was 46-26

MDI and Ellsworth will meet again Thursday night, October 28th at 6:30 p.m. in Bar Harbor. That will be Senior Night for the MDI players. The game will be streamed HERE (subscription required)
