Ellsworth’s Season Ends in PI 60-50

The Ellsworth Boy's Basketball season came to an end on Thursday, February 16th as the Eagles fell to Presque Isle, up in Presque Isle 60-50, in a Class B North Prelim Game.

The #5 seeded Presque Isle Wildcats jumped out to a 15-12 lead over the #12 seeded Ellsworth Eagles in the 1st Quarter. For Presque Isle Griffin Guerrette had 7 points including a 3-pointer, and Jonah Hudson and Jason Dumais had 4 points each. For Ellsworth Dylan Taplin, Bryce Harmon and Jared Hamiton had 4 points each.

Ellsworth senior Bryce Harmon reinjured his ankle and was unable to return to the game in the 1st Quarter.

In the 2nd Quarter Presque Isle outscored Ellsworth 14-8 to take a 29-20 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For the Wildcats Jason Dumais had 8 points, Griffin Guerrette had 4 points and Bradley Kinney added 2 points. For Ellsworth Jared Hamilton had 4 points while Zach Harris and Jackson Curtis chipped in 2 points each.

Presque Isle extended their lead to 11 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 42-31. Griffin Guerrette and Bradley Kinney each had 5 points, and Jonah Hudson had a 3-pointer. For Ellsworth Zach Harris had a 3-pointer, Jared Hamiton had 3 points, Dylan Taplin and Jackson Curtis had 2 points and Troy Folmer had 1 point.

Ellsworth outscored Presque Isle 19-18 in the 4th Quarter but were never able to cut the lead below 6 points. In the 4th, Jared Hamilton had 9 points, Jackson Curtis had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Zach Harris had 3 points and Damian Carter had 2 points for the Eagles. For Presque Isle Griffin Guerrette had 6 points, Bradley Kinney had 5 points, Jason Dumais had 3 points, Marcus Ouellette had 2 points and Jake Kinney and Jonah Hudson chipped in 1 point each.

Ellsworth was led by Jared Hamilton with a season high 20 points while Jackson Curtis had 9 points and Zach Harris had 8 points. Ellsworth was 12-20 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Griffin Guerrette with a game high 22 points with Jason Dumais adding 15 points and Bradley Kinney 12 points. Presque Isle was 16-30 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth finishes the season with a 8-11 record.

Presque Isle is now 14-5 and will play #4 Orono on Saturday, February 19th.
