Ellsworth High School Hires 6 Coaches for Fall Sports Season

The Fall High School Sport's Season begins on Monday, August 17th and Ellsworth High School hired 6 coaches to fill vacancies, many of them familiar names.

Addi Laslie - Girl's Varsity Soccer Coach.

Laslie played all 4 years of high school for the Ellsworth Eagles before attending Husson University and playing for their team during the 2022 to 2025 seasons. During her collegiate career at Husson, she competed in 74 games, scoring 33 goals and adding 16 assists. She was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Year as a freshman and earned NAC All-Conference 2nd Team honors in her senior year. Laslie, who currently works for First National Bank, brings a wealth of soccer knowledge to the program and has spent time over the last couple of years coaching for Acadia Fire.

Steve Dorn - Boy's JV Soccer Coach

EHS alumnus Steve VanDorn, an employee at E.L. Shea for over 25 years with more than two decades of coaching experience across YMCA, middle school, and EHS volunteer roles, steps in as the Boy's JV Coach.

AJ Price - Assistant Boys Soccer Coach

University of Cincinnati graduate and Paylocity HCM Account Executive AJ Price joins as an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach, bringing new defensive concepts and goalkeeper training.

David Kearns - Assistant Football Coach

Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Chief of Police David Kearns will serve as an Assistant Football Coach, building on his volunteer work with Ellsworth Youth Football since 2016 and the EHS team during the 2025 season.

Sarah Shelton - JV Volleyball Coach

2015 EHS graduate Sarah Shelton takes over as JV Volleyball Coach. Shelton was named the 2014 Maine Volleyball Gatorade Player of the Year, played four years at the University of New Hampshire, has her jersey retired at EHS, and was inducted into the EHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024.

Rachel (Bunker) Cowperthwaite - 1st Team Volleyball Coach

1st Team Volleyball Coach is 2016 EHS graduate Rachel (Bunker) Cowperthwaite. A former high school All-State selection and three-time NAC champion at Maine Maritime Academy, Cowperthwaite previously volunteered with the MDI Trojans and currently serves as VP Branch Manager for Bangor Savings Bank in Ellsworth.
